MB™ 488 DBCO is a bright, green fluorescent probe with excitation ideally suited for the 488 nm laser line. MB™ 488 DBCO is a bright, green fluorescent probe with excitation ideally suited for the 488 nm laser line. MB™ 488 a photostable and pH-insensitive fluorescent dye that can be used in place of Fluorescein, Alexa Fluor 488®, DyLight 488® and other dyes excitable at a wavelength of 488 nm.

MB™ 488 DBCO dye reacts with azides via a copper-free “click chemistry” reaction to form a stable triazole and does not require Cu-catalyst or elevated temperatures. In application where the presence of copper is a concern MB™ 488 DBCO is an ideal alternative to copper requiring fluorescent alkynes.

MB™ 488 DBCO reagent is not suitable for staining intracellular components of fixed and permeabilized cells due to high backgrounds.

DBCO reagents are the most commonly used substrates for strain-promoted copper-free azide-alkyne click chemistry reactions. DBCO compounds react with azide functionalized compounds or biomolecules without the need for a Cu(I) catalyst to result in a stable triazole linkage.
